100 Year Old Armenian Refugee to America November 1914

On November 2, 1914 Russia formally declared war against the Ottoman Empire. Soon after the United States became a safe haven for those Armenians who were fortunate to have the contacts and resources to escape. On November 21, 1914 Mrs. Tokany Stephain, 100 years old, and her daughter, Mrs Hiranes Paklaian, 80 years old, were notable remarkable early refugees.
