On March 11, 1918, Eveline Rousseau married Mandoza Milhomme. Eveline was 20 years old at the time and had recently emigrated to Lowell from St. Catherine, Canada, where she lived with her parents Jean and Delphine (LaFerrierl). In her thirteen year marriage Eveline gave birth to eight children. Three of the children Mandoza, Alice Marie, and Cecile all died within a few months of birth. A fourth child, Emile, died at the age of two. Four children lived to be adults: Marie Albertina, William, Henry and Albert. On September 29, 1930, at the age of 32, Eveline died from complications after the delivery of a still-born ninth child. My dad was one of her children, William Joseph Milhomme (b. May 5, 1923). There are times I wonder what it would have been to have been held and hugged by my grandmother. She had to be a remarkable, loving mother.
